Taxi plea in hunt for mum Mandy
Saturday 18th October 2008, 11:40AM BST.
Detectives today appealed for taxi drivers who may have picked up missing Shropshire woman Mandy Franks to come forward on the two-week anniversary of her disappearance.
It comes as they revealed it could take up to a month to trawl through the hours of CCTV footage in a desperate bid to find out where Miss Franks, formerly Mrs Rowland, went after enjoying a night in Shrewsbury two weeks ago today.
Officers said the last sighting of the 40-year-old was in the car park opposite Montgomery’s Tower pub shortly after midnight on October 5.
Detective Inspector Jason Wells, of Shrewsbury police, said: “Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and it is likely to take at least another month before these inquires are complete.
“Two weeks on from when Mandy was last seen, we appeal for anyone with any information who may have not previously done so to come forward.”
Mr Wells said it was still being treated as a missing person inquiry.
He added: “The CCTV image suggests Mandy is waiting for a taxi and we would urge any drivers who may have seen Mandy to get in touch. ”
Miss Franks’s partner Jody Evans last saw her on October 4 after he left her in Frank Cafe Bar in Frankwell, Shrewsbury, in order to meet a friend.
Anyone with any information should contact the incident room on 08457 444888.
