Iceland stock market reopens
Tuesday 14th October 2008, 11:43AM BST.
The Icelandic stock exchange has re-opened after closing last week but fell sharply immediately after trading began.
The Icelandic Stock Exchange fell 76 per cent in its first hour, after last week’s financial crisis forced it to close on Thursday.
However, trading in Kaupthing, Landsbanki, Glitnir, Straumur-Burdaras, Reykjavik Savings Bank (SPRON) and Exista, remains suspended.
Yesterday, diplomatic relations between Britain and Iceland appeared to thaw after the Bank of England offered a loan of up to £100 million to Landsbanki.
