Officers’ pledge over yob motorists

Anti-social driving in a Powys village is to be targeted by police officers after complaints.
Officers are to target drivers causing a problem in Abermule, near Newtown.
Constable Huw Morgan, of the Newtown Neighbourhood Police Team, said officers had taken action and more would follow.
He said: “We have received complaints from members of the public in Abermule concerning anti-social driving and the noise that this creates.
“The areas it is happening at is the Abermule School and Community Centre car park and residents are getting rather concerned.”
He said one driver had been issued with a warning about his anti-social driving.
“This area has been highlighted as a priority at previous Abermule and Llandyssil Partners and Communities Together meetings,” he said.
This latest incident is the latest in a long line of complaints about anti-social driving in Powys. In July, a 19-year-old boy racer in Knighton had his car seized after he ignored a warning about his behaviour.
Last month, speeding drivers in Caersws, near Newtown, were warned they would be prosecuted after residents spoke up at another Pact meeting.
The next two Pact meetings in the Newtown Neighbourhood Policing area are on October 20 at New Mills Community Centre at 7pm and October 21 at Mochdre Church Hall at 7pm.
