Bridge to close. Again.
Thursday 9th October 2008, 11:19AM BST.
Ludlow’s new Burway Bridge – which has only just reopened to the public – is set to close again for three days next week.
The bridge collapsed during last summer’s heavy floods and a £1 million reconstruction started in the spring.
The bridge, which carries the B4361 over the River Corve in Ludlow, opened to one lane of traffic on September 13, but will be closed to traffic and pedestrians on Monday for three days.
It is the last planned closure so contractors McPhillips can put the final layer of tarmac on the road and install an expansion joint across the full bridge width.
The bridge will then operate under one-lane traffic lights until mid December.
