Library opening delayed by fault

Tuesday 7th October 2008, 10:14AM BST.

The official opening of Oswestry’s newly refurbished library was cancelled today following a technical problem.

The new-look library, which has had an £887,000 makeover, was set to open its doors to the public, having been housed temporarily in the library garage for the last four months.

But a notice at the steps to the library said: “The opening of the new library has been delayed due to technical problems.

“An opening date will be announced as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Senior librarian Teresa Eccleston said there was a problem with the data lines so they would not be able to issue anything.

“We are ever so disappointed.

“It is very frustrating, we are ready to go other than that but as soon as its sorted it will be open,” she said.

“It is a shame for the public, they have been very understanding so far.”
