Jail sentence for man who broke order

A Telford man who avoided prison after threatening his brother with a fake gun has now been jailed for 30 weeks for breaching his community service order by not turning up for an appointment.
Paul Rushton, 34, was found guilty of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence in September last year.
He had been ordered to comply with a 12-month supervision order and received a custodial sentence of 36 weeks, suspended for 12 months.
He had denied pointing an imitation “gat” gun at his brother, Jonathan, and Wayne Chattington at his home in Farm Lodge Grove, Malinslee, on February 10.
Yesterday, Mr Mark Sharman, prosecuting, told Shrewsbury Crown Court that Rushton failed to turn up to a scheduled appointment on July 17 this year.
Mr Peter Cooper, for Rushton, said Rushton admitted missing his appointment but said he had a valid reason.
Judge Granville Styler said he did not believe Rushton’s story as the court records showed he had offered a different excuse as a previous hearing.
Judge Styler sentenced Rushton to 30 weeks.
