Wing woe hits Wolves hopes

Thursday 2nd October 2008, 10:50AM BST.

Matt Jarvis is stretchered off in the match against ReadingWolves manager Mick McCarthy has been dealt a huge blow with the news wingers Matt Jarvis and Michael Kightly face lengthy spells on the sidelines. The duo both suffered hamstring injuries in last night’s 3-0 mauling at the hands of Reading.

Jarvis has sustained the more severe injury and will be sidelined for at least two months, while Kightly is expected to be out for around half that time.

Already without captain Jody Craddock, boss Mick McCarthy admits next week’s international break is now well timed.

“We’re desperate to get a few players recovered,” McCarthy admitted.

“Jarvo’s done his hamstring, and so has Kights, which is an indication of how hard they work.

“Andy Keogh was struggling with a knee in the glutes – the cheek of his backside and lower back – and Stephen Ward has got damaged ribs.”

Wolves have the added worry of still being without suspended top scorer Chris Iwelumo as he completes his three-game ban at Swansea on Saturday.

Ward, caught in the chest by an accidental collision with captain Karl Henry’s studs, is expected to be fit for Wolves’ first visit to the Liberty Stadium.

But while losing Jarvis and Kightly on the same night was a massive double blow, given their inspirational form this season, McCarthy refused to be downcast.

And, with his team still two points clear at the top of the Championship, McCarthy admits that he would not swap with any of his rival managers.

“Would I have taken 22 points after nine games? Damn right I would,” he said.

This should come as no surprise excepet didn’t expect both of them to go down in the same match !
Soo MM do NOT revert to your strategy of last season but have you any money to go for a couple of loan players? Like the lad Derby got from Arsenal for instance who would be a wow for us with his ability. There has to be others with the big guns we can borrow.
    Keep the momentum going
