No time for complacency – Kightly

Tuesday 30th September 2008, 11:50AM BST.

Michael Kightly celebrates after opening the scoring.

Wolves winger Michael Kightly insists there is no danger of complacency creeping in against Reading as the Coca-Cola Championship leaders look to maintain their impressive start to the season tonight.A run of seven successive wins after an opening-day draw at Plymouth has seen Mick McCarthy’s side lead the table on 22 points and make their best start to a league campaign for 59 years.

Kightly, 22, expects the same work ethic from the players selected to face the Royals at Molineux.

“We’re the only unbeaten team in the Championship, and everyone is trying to knock us off that pedestal. We know that and we’re going to work hard to try to maintain this run,” he said.

“If we lose a game, then it’s all about how we react to it – and if we do lose, we can’t all be doom and gloom. We kick on again.

“There’s definitely no complacency. Maybe against Crystal Palace, we scored too early and took our foot of the gas – but that’s the only game that’s happened. We’ve been in people’s faces working hard – and when we score, we try to score more.

“We will carry on doing the same and hope we can keep this run going. Reading are going to be tough opposition, but every game in this division is tough.”

Wolves are without Chris Iwelumo – serving a three-match ban – so Andy Keogh should keep his place in attack alongside Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

Reading could be without captain James Harper, so youngster Jem Karacan is poised to continue his midfield partnership with Brynjar Gunnarsson.

In tonight’s other matches second-placed Birmingham City travel to Derby.
