Takeaway boss fined over hygiene

The owner of a Telford takeaway was today ordered to pay nearly £10,000 after health inspectors discovered dirty premises.Wan Lun Wang, owner of the Golden House, in Orleton Lane, Wellington appeared before Telford Magistrates Court today.
Wang was charged with six food hygiene offences by Telford & Wrekin Council after the take-away was visited in February this year.
At today’s hearing Wang admitted all of the offences.
Environmental health inspectors found unclean conditions, food which had not been defrosted properly and inadequately trained staff, the court was told.
Magistrates at the town court fined Wang £6,500 for the six offences and ordered him to pay costs totalling £3,110.
The takeaway previously scored poorly on Telford’s Scores on the Doors scheme, launched in June to boost hygiene standards of pubs, restaurants, takeaways and canteens.
Under the scheme, all food premises are given a star rating by environmental health officers – and face losing stars if they fail to maintain standards.
The scheme covers everything from pubs, restaurants and takeaways to private caterers, care homes and even school kitchens.
The best premises have five and the worst none, with scores shown on the council’s website at www.telford .gov.uk
