A Shropshire paraglider was recovering in hospital today after a heavy landing on the county border.

Qualified club pilot Shaun Longland, from Shrewsbury, was airlifted to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital after the incident at Corndon Hill, near Priest Weston, Powys, on Wednesday afternoon. He suffered back and leg injuries.

The 39-year-old said he was completing a flight and had been in the air for 15 minutes and was planning to come into land but came down heavier than intended.
