LETTER - Prior to the UK joining the EU farmers used every winter to dig ditches alongside the roads and fields to drain away excess water.

Since the UK was taken over by the unelected bureaucrats of the EU this practice has had to cease.

The result of this action and the ending to the dredging of the UK rivers flooding has now become a regular feature of UK life with insurance premiums rising and homes being unusable for months on end.

If the spineless Liberal Democrats had any consideration for the electorate or their members when the referendum vote was being taken in Parliament they would have supported the Tories and the electorate of the UK would have been able to give their decision on the EU.

A decision which was to leave the EU and had the support of over 95 per cent of the country.

True to fashion the Lib Dems sat on the fence and now their leader has the audacity to claim to be the party of the people and the only ones able to solve the UK’s problems.

How? By sitting on the fence? The UK gives the EU £50 million every day and receives back approx £50,000 for every week’s contributions made.

A situation that UK politicians including David Wright claim is a good deal for UK citizens.

The United Kingdom Independence Party believes that the UK should trade freely with Europe and with any other country of the world that it chooses but not be controlled by Europe as we are at present.
