Police arrest seven in pub brawl
Monday 22nd September 2008, 11:50AM BST.
More than 15 yobs were involved in a brawl at a Telford pub which left four people injured. The fight started shortly after 12.30am yesterday inside The Three Furnaces Inn in Madeley.
The brawl then escalated and saw the gang spill out on to the pub car park where the fighting continued.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene.
One man in his 20s was taken to the town’s Princess Royal Hospital with minor injuries.
Police arrested seven people. They have since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
One of the pub managers, who did not want to be named, said they had run the pub for the last five months and built up a good reputation, but just one group had spoiled the night.
He said: “It was really sad because it had been such a good night.”
He said the pub’s ethos was no drugs and no violence at their “attitude free” venue.
Sergeant Jeff Weinel, of Telford police said: “Initial reports suggested that a group of 15 or more customers was involved in a disturbance that had spilled out of the premises on to the car park.
“Following the report seven people were arrested and have since been bailed while inquiries continue.”
Chris Kowalik, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We sent an ambulance crew which conveyed a male in his 20s to the PRH with minor cuts and bruises.
“We treated three people at the scene also for cuts and bruises.”
