A double date with a difference
Sunday 21st September 2008, 11:00AM BST.
Two Shropshire lovebirds had double reason to celebrate on their wedding day when they tied the knot – their son and daughter from previous relationships were also marrying.
Michael and Clarice Trevor got married at the Walls Restaurant in Oswestry after dating for 12 years.
And also tying the knot at the double wedding were Michael’s son Scott and Clarice’s daughter Sandra.
The two couples are even going to the same honeymoon destination in Cyprus – although at different hotels.
Clarice, 69, a retired nurse who worked at the Orthopaedic Hospital in Gobowen, said her 40-year-old daughter Sandra and Michael’s son Scott, 34, hit it off after being introduced a few years ago by their respective parents.
She said: “Scott was staying with me and Michael and Sandra came to visit. They started going out because they got on so well.
“Sandra and I were looking at the Walls Restaurant for their wedding day when I started thinking it would be nice for me and Michael to also get married there.
“Michael had asked me a few times before, so I thought it would perfect for us all to get married on the same day.”
Michael, 56, a retired plumbing and heating engineer who played professional football for Everton, Wrexham and Chester in the 1960s and 1970s, said: “It was nice for me to get married on the same day as my son and for Clarice to get married on the same day as her daughter.
“We were all sitting together at the double wedding. They were married first and then we went after. It went very well and it was nice to all be together.”
