Madness – would’nt it have been easier not to do the bike ride and give the money they are using in fuel, etc to the Air Ambulance??

Y Mab, are you serious? Surely you can see that the point of the event is to raise money (more than the fuel cost) and to raise awareness for the air ambulance.

TMM: I wont be, but when I was a Young Farmer I raised several thousands of pounds for good causes, including the Air Ambulance before it was even in the air.

Y Mab: I’m glad you said it, I was thinking the same. I just wonder what the true cost is and how much they have raised for charity? And wouldn’t people be just as willing to give anyway? Why do they need to sponsor someone to do something they enjoy anyway? Now a sponsored digging old peoples gardens is a different thing all together.

I often get asked to go on sponsored charity hikes, but if I’m going to climb Everest, I’ll do it with my own money and not have it paid from sponsorship with the excess going to charity! (I am not implying that this ride is in anyway funded from sponsorship)

But if this is the only way to raise money for good causes then WELL DONE lads and have a safe a good trip! – ride it like you stole it!

OK – I am I wrekin Rider MOC member. We have asked people to donate any amount for the run – ALL of that is going to the charity. We as a club have raised the money for the petrol and accomidation by collecting scrap metal from our own garages, yards and families.

However this is not all about raising money – its a personal challenge to, 900 plus miles on a motorbike in 48 hours is tough !! Stick Jim donated tyres for the run so our riders were safe?

Some times i think people are so full of them selfs they fail to recognise people doing good !!

perhaps if fuel costs are the issue here they could get rid of the air ambulance and replace it with a hot air balloon. never before have i heard people get stick for trying to raise money for good charities…..

It seems a little rough to have a go at people raising money. Well done anyway to the riders for trying.

Shocked: I dont think you actually read my post. I did say well done to them but pointed out my views of the hypocrisy of some fund raising but made it quite clear that there was no inference that this charity ride was tarred with that brush.
Have a lay down and I’m sure you will feel better.
