Blakeman in return to Bucks
Saturday 20th September 2008, 12:25PM BST.
AFC Telford United midfielder Liam Blakeman returns to the squad for today’s match at Gateshead and insisted: “Bucks fans are yet to see the best of me”.
The midfielder, a summer signing from Southport, has been out for two weeks after twisting his ankle in a training ground accident.
The news came as a blow to Telford, who have missed the 25-year-old’s creativity in recent times.
“I can’t wait to get back involved with the lads,” said Blakeman. “I just want to get playing and be better than I was at the start of the season, because I wasn’t satisfied with that.
“It’s always hard to watch from the sidelines, but it did give me an opportunity to watch the lads and see what’s going on.We’re still waiting to click.
“We’re not playing particularly well but still getting points, so that bodes well at least.
“We need to keep possession and keep the ball better and just bide our time and take our chances.
“The manager has made it clear what he expects from here on in, so we know the score.”
Meanwhile, winger Simon Forsdick has put his knee scan back until next week.
Bucks manager Rob Smith was expecting news on the injury today, but has been made to wait due to Forsdick’s personal timetable.
“Hopefully it will be straight forward and the scan will reveal that it is just a small tear,” said Forsdick.
“I haven’t thought about the worse case scenario really – only time will tell.
“It’s been the same since April.
“I had that little glimmer of hope and then it was taken away from me.”
