School’s boarding house to open

Thursday 18th September 2008, 11:50AM BST.

A £1 million boarding house at a county school is set to be officially opened tomorrow by a renowned artist.

Denise Rylands, a former student at Moreton Hall, near Oswestry, and a current school governor, will open the sixth form boarding house at 4pm.

The building, to be known as Rylands, means Moreton can now offer more than 100 sixth form places in modern, en-suite study bedrooms.

Jonathan Forster, principal, said: “This is the culmination of a fantastic year at Moreton.

“We are celebrating the best ever GCSE results at the school, among Shropshire’s best A-level results, the senior school is full and we have completed three significant capital projects – a new indoor pool, a refurbished primary school and this new sixth form boarding house.”

The school is also set to welcome broadcaster and celebrity Esther Rantzen at its foundation dinner on November 8.
