Tributes paid to tragic Samantha

Wednesday 17th September 2008, 8:50AM BST.

Samantha PriceThe mother of a 21-year-old Shropshire woman who collapsed and died after suffering a suspected asthma attack on holiday is hoping her body will be brought home as soon as a flight is available.

Tributes have poured in for Samantha Price, of Monkmoor Road, Shrewsbury, from friends and family, who have praised her “outgoing” personality.

She died after collapsing in a club on Monday morning on the Greek island of Zakynthos, where she was on holiday with three friends. Her family believe she may have suffered an asthma attack but this has yet to be confirmed.

Today her mother Susan Minor, also of Shrewsbury, said: “I have not heard anything more from the Foreign Office. I’m not expecting anything until she arrives home but that’s when the insurance company can get flights – with the XL situation flights are at a premium.

“They have said probably early next week. I think her friends have arranged early flights or were trying to but they are certainly not home yet. I have not spoken to them. I have spoken to one of the mothers of one of the girls.

“Her friends have set up a a site on her Facebook page and I have looked at that and there are lots of tributes. There are lots of friends writing messages on there, which has been a comfort.”

Today Samantha’s boss David Stiles, of Tanner Stiles Publishing Ltd in Telford, paid tribute to her work as a sales executive on the magazine Specification Product Update.

He said: “She was a lovely girl. She had been with us three months.

“It normally takes two or three months for people to get to grips with it and she was selling a lot of business and coming on in leaps and bounds and I cannot believe this has happened.”

Tributes have also been left on the Shropshire Star website. Colleague Paul Hawkins said: “Taken too soon, and not a chance to say goodbye and Louise Fletcher described Samantha as “my special friend”. See more tributes here.

The Foreign and Office was unavailable for comment today.
