Jason RobertsOswestry Paralympian Jason Roberts narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in China.

The 35-year-old was a member of the British wheelchair rugby side which played Canada in the bronze medal match at the Paralympics in Beijing yesterday.

Roberts’s team fell short by six points in their quest for a bronze medal when they lost to the Canadians 47-41.

The British team put up a good performance against Canada who were the runners-up in Athens four years ago.

The loss to Canada followed a defeat to the USA on Monday at the semi-final stage.

Great Britain reached the semi-finals with wins over New Zealand and Germany.

Roberts’ efforts against Germany were singled out for praise after he helped force a number of turnovers.

The USA scooped the gold medal after beating Australia 53-44 in the final.
