Road plan is approved

Tuesday 16th September 2008, 6:59PM BST.

Plans to transform a congested road in Bridgnorth into a one-way system were a step closer today.

Members of Bridgnorth District Council’s community improvement committee have approved the scheme for Whitburn Street.

It is part of a £750,000 plan, which includes widening the footpaths. A final decision on the proposal will be made next week.

If it is backed, work will begin to convert Whitburn Street, with traffic flow going from the Pound Street and Salop Street island towards the town. There would be no right-turn down Whitburn Street from Northgate.
