Spitfire fetches £1.17m in sale

A Spitfire formerly based in Shropshire has sold for a record-breaking price.

The 1945 Spitfire Supermarine fighter plane sold for £1.17million at Bonhams and Goodman’s Nelson auction house yesterday.

The plane, which was based at RAF Cosford, was bought by an Asian buyer for a museum in China.
