Post Office situation causing concern

Saturday 13th September 2008, 11:49AM BST.

LETTER - I am writing to express concern and disgust at the way in which a large number of residents in the Mount Pleasant and Ditherington area of Shrewsbury were totally ignored in their fight to retain a much-needed Post Office.

We lost our fight but that was not all. To make matters worse the Post Office at Sentinel Gardens was having problems getting someone.

Ditherington did, of course, have such a person and common sense should have prevailed and Ditherington should have remained open. Now Castlefields Post Office has closed.

Ditherington again could have solved the problem as the it could have become the Post Office for this area.

But no, we in Ditherington then had the biggest insult placed upon us when Councillor A Mosley suggested that the Ditherington postmaster should perhaps be considered to run the Castlefields Post Office.

Councillor Mosley, believe it or not, is also the councillor for Ditherington.

What, may I ask Councillor Mosley, is the problem with Ditherington?

We are fully capable of supporting our Post Office.

Why should you not consider approaching the Post Office services and support Ditherington has the alternative Post Office for this area?

Francis William Desmond King, Ditherington, Shrewsbury
