Adult play area backed

A play area for older people in a village near Shrewsbury could become a reality next year after councillors agreed to go ahead with the proposals. The play area, which would cost about £4,000, would be installed in the village of Minsterley and would be geared specifically to adults.
Councillors have been looking into the proposals for the past few months after hearing about similar schemes which help older people to take exercise and keep fit outdoors.
And at last night’s meeting of Minsterley Parish Council, councillors agreed to go ahead with the scheme.
Councillor David Leeson, chairman of the parish council, told councillors the authority had now reached the stage where it needed to decide whether to press ahead with the plans, with members agreeing to go ahead with them.
He said: “We’re saying we do want to do it, we’re going to do it and will budget it in the next meeting in October for the budget.
“It will be something that the parish can have done for the village.”
Councillors asked for viability study to be carried out to determine if it could be sited near the parish hall, as it is thought this is the only suitable location within the village.
Councillor Leeson added: “It needs to be here by the parish hall. There is no other place to put it, I don’t think, to get use out of it.”
