County man killed in lorry smash

A 38-year-old man from Shropshire was killed today after his car was in collision with a lorry.
The man, who has not been named, died when his Ford Focus car crashed with a heavy goods vehicle near Crewe, Cheshire, at 3.30am.
A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: “A two-vehicle collision occurred on the A500 at Barthomley, Crewe.
“The driver of the car, a 38-year-old man from Shropshire, was pronounced dead at the scene.”
A woman was also confirmed dead after being found in a car in Whitchurch. The West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the junction of the A525 and the A41 on Saturday, at about 6.45am.
