Shrewsbury Town must hit the road again in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy after being drawn at Wycombe Wanderers in today’s draw.

Paul Simpson’s men will travel to their League Two rivals Wycombe for the second round tie during the week commencing October 6.

Meanwhile, Town officials are expecting a crowd of around 5,500 for Tuesday night’s under-19 International between England and the Netherlands at the Prostar Stadium.

Around 2,500 tickets have already been sold and that number is likely to at least double before kickoff.

Shrewsbury’s 10,000 all-seater stadium was selected to stage the European championship warm-up after successfully hosting an England Ladies match against Spain last November.

“It is a great honour and privilege for us to be asked to stage an International match,” said Shrewsbury stadium manager Jon Harris.

“It was a natural step up for us to make on the back of the success of the ladies match.

“The facilities we have are very good. We have an excellent health and safety record, so we are just approaching the match as we would any other.

“We’ll be looking to get about five to six thousand. It’s not the best time with the weather and the kids going back to school, but that should be enough to create a good atmosphere.”

And should the night be a success, Harris is hopeful that the Prostar can take another step forward and one day host an under-21 fixture.

“That has got to be our ambition,” he confirmed. “The higher you go, the more that is requested of you, so that would probably be the pinnacle for us, but we believe it’s attainable.”

Included in Tuesday’s squad is Manchester United youngsters Ben Amos and Daniel Welbeck. Danny Drinkwater has been replaced by Jay Thomas.

Arsenal are the most represented team with three players – Gavin Hoyte, Henri Lansbury and Rhys Murphy.

Adult tickets are £3 when booked in advance from Shrewsbury ticket office, or £5 on the night. Concessions are £1.
