Firefighters from Wellington were threatened after they arrived to tackle a blaze in Hadley today.

The fire, which started at around 7.30am this morning, wrecked a derelict garage in Cresent Road.

Some neighbours in the street believe the garage had been lived in by a homeless man in recent days.

Firefighters were delayed for around 20 minutes, in order for police to arrive, before tackling the fire.

Police in Telford have confirmed that a 43-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of arson and was in police custody at Malinsgate Police Station.
