Jockey Ben gets ride with Henderson
Saturday 30th August 2008, 11:50AM BST.
Ben Brisbourne, the son of Shropshire trainer Mark, has joined Nicky Henderson and will be the Seven Barrows amateur jockey.
Brisbourne, who has ridden five winners on the Flat for his father and has riding engagements this weekend, moved to Lambourn recently – and he left with the blessing of his dad.
Brisbourne Snr said: “It is a tremendous opportunity for Ben. He has only ridden in bumpers but he will get the chance of riding some very good horses for Nicky – better than I would have saddled.”
Brisbourne spent a day at Seven Barrows before being offered the place. He lives at the stables and his father said: “It will great experience for him and it be a great schooling for him.”
Although he has been successful on the Flat, he was also part of a successful Great Britain team in Baden-Baden.
His father said: “It did not get the publicity it deserved but it was an excellent success.”
