Kirstie ‘on net’ before blaze
Friday 29th August 2008, 11:50AM BST.
Missing teenager Kirstie Foster could have been chatting online to friends just hours before a terrifying blaze at the family’s country home.It is understood that her conversations may have been interrupted by a power cut at about 1am on Tuesday.
Police today confirmed they were investigating Kirstie’s activity on her computer as part of their huge probe into exactly what unfurled at Osbaston House, Maesbrook.
It is understood she may have been chatting with friends on a social networking site before firefighters were called to battle the blaze.
It comes as police revealed they would finally be entering the main fire-ravaged house later today. The search will reveal whether missing millionaire Christopher Foster, his wife Jill, and their 15-year-old daughter Kirstie were inside the property at the time of the fire.
The remains of expensive vehicles which were worth tens of thousands of pounds, were removed from the site today for further examination, after forensic teams finished scouring the outbuildings of the property.
Family and friends of the Foster family said they were anxiously waiting for news today. The family are still unaccounted for and have not been in contact with anyone since the blaze.
Superintendent Gary Higgins, of West Mercia Police, said: “We are aware Kirstie had a computer and the use of that forms part of the police investigation.
“We will enter the main part of the house today and forensic specialists will begin the lengthy, painstaking process of sifting and examining all the contents.
“There is extensive debris at the site and it will take some days, possibly several weeks, to complete this part of the investigation. We will be seeking to build up a picture of the circumstances leading up to the fire.”
Detectives said every possible scenario for what happened was being considered.
Mr Higgins said: “The horses found dead at the scene have been examined and post mortems on them were completed yesterday.
“We are still awaiting the results of those examinations. The bodies of three dogs were also found close to the horses.”
A large horse box parked close to the property’s gates has also been removed from the site for forensic examination.
Profiles are being developed on all three family members to assist the inquiry. Nearly 100 West Mercia officers and support staff are working on the case. Mr Foster’s mother is believed to live in Church Stretton but has been moved from her home since the blaze. She was not available for comment today.
