Fresh details of the Fosters’ life in the exclusive village of Allscott, near Telford, emerged today with neighbours speaking of Mr Foster’s love of shooting and outdoor pursuits.

They said the family had lived in a modern house in the small community and moved to the now gutted Maesbrook property about five years ago.

Mr Foster, his wife Jill and daughter Kirstie lived at their previous home for about five years.

One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said they thought the house sold for about £750,000 when the Fosters moved.

Ferrari-driving Mr Foster kept a fleet of cars, including Range Rovers and a Porsche, neighbours said.

One said: “We saw very little of them, but when we did it was often as they drove in and out in one of their various vehicles. He was never much of a conversationalist.”

It is believed Mr Foster used to visit the West Midlands Shooting Ground, near Hodnet, as a hobby.

Another neighbour said: “He was a nice fellow and I got on with him, but he was always trying to keep up with the Joneses.

“He was a big shooting man and they were involved in a range near Hodnet.”
