Stylist’s plan for new jobs at salon
Wednesday 27th August 2008, 11:50AM BST.
A stylist is planning to open a hair salon in Whitchurch, creating jobs for hairdressers in the area.Michelle Arrowsmith plans to open boutique-style hair salon Beauxcheveux in Watergate Street by November. The salon would be based on the first floor of Fiona’s Coffee Shop, in the Watergate Arcade.
Mrs Arrowsmith has applied to North Shropshire District Council for permission to change the use of the unit and hopes to get the go ahead by mid-October.
She said Beauxcheveux, French for beautiful hair, could create three jobs.
“At first I’ll be having one other girl with me, and as time goes on I’ll employ more,” she said.
“I’ll start off small and be able to build it up. Definitely in the next six to eight months I would then have another two people with me.”
Mrs Arrowsmith, of Penley, said she hoped to open the shop as soon as possible after she gets permission from the district council.
“It will be a nice, boutique-style hair salon,” she said. “I will open as soon as I can, as soon as I can do a shop fit, after the go-ahead – definitely before Christmas, so possibly the end of October or beginning of November.
“I’ve worked in hair salons in Whitchurch for the last 15 years, and I’ve been a mobile hairdresser for the last few months, so I thought it would be nice for me to have my own base.”
