Pool work due to start

Tuesday 26th August 2008, 11:50AM BST.

Preliminary work was today due to start on a £250,000 refurbishment project at Shrewsbury’s Quarry Swimming Centre.

The project, which will see an upgrade of services at the site, is to begin on September 2 for 12 weeks but vehicles are already getting into place.

Dave Micklewright, principal project officer, said: “We are carrying out a refurbishment of general operations, fittings and services to see the facility through another three to five years before a review for a possible replacement facility or a full refurbishment by the new Unitary authority.”
