Tuesday 26th August 2008, 11:50AM BST.
A man suffered serious wounds to his face when a glass was thrown at him in a Powys nightclub.
The violence flared at Lush Nightclub, in Wesley Street, Newtown on Saturday night.
It is believed the victim was out drinking with his friends when the incident happened at about 10.30pm.
He was taken to hospital for treatment, but was allowed home after being treated.
Detective Constable Jenna Darby, of Newtown Police, urged witnesses to contact the police who were treating the case as one of serious violence.
She said: “We are investigating an offence of assault that took place inside the Lush Nightclub in Newtown.
“The victim of this assault received significant facial injuries and it is believed that this is a result of a glass being thrown at him.”
Constable Mark Thomas, of Newtown Police, said: “We have arrested one man in connection with the assault and he is currently on bail pending further inquiries.
“I can also say that the victim’s injuries are not as serious as first feared and he is making a good recovery,” he added
DC Darby said anybody with information should contact Newtown Police on 0845 3302000 or Crimestoppers confidentially on 0800 555111.
