Massive funding shock for the Tigers
Thursday 21st August 2008, 11:50AM BST.
Telford Tigers Premier League ice hockey team today announced it had lost a “significant” sponsorship deal.Club bosses are now facing an uncertain future with less than four weeks to go to the new season.
Cannock-based firm Eurologix has confirmed that it has pulled out of the deal, claiming team managers had failed to meet criteria agreed as part of the deal.
Telford Tigers, based at Telford Ice Rink, now have a race against time to find a new sponsor.
Rachel Jones, Tigers spokeswoman, said: “This decision comes as a huge blow to the club with their first games due to be played in less than four weeks’ time. We are currently looking into all our options and have already informed all the players of our situation.
“We will make further announcements over the next few days as we evaluate our position and look to find a way forward.”
She urged all Telford Tigers supporters to be patient and said anyone wanting to help the club should contact them via their website www.telford tigers.co.uk
Mike Loughlin, Eurologix managing director, said the money had been pulled because Telford Tigers had failed to meet criteria laid out as part of the deal.
He said: “From my point of view, it’s very disappointing. We’ve been very consistent with what we’ve stated from day one.”
