Forsdick loan for holiday run-out

Simon ForsdickWing-back Simon Forsdick will take a giant stride towards an AFC Telford United return with two Bank Holiday run-outs for Nuneaton Town. The left-sided ace has been out since undergoing knee surgery during the summer, but is now ready to return to competitive action.

Boss Rob Smith has arranged for him to go to BGB Southern League club Nuneaton – close to his home in Leamington – in order to gain match fitness before returning to the Bucks.

He will make his debut at Romulus on Saturday before playing in a Warwickshire derby against Bedworth on Monday.

“We’ve arranged for him to get involved at Nuneaton and I think it’s a decent little move for him,” said Smith.

“As soon as he’s ready he’ll come back to us. I’m hoping he’ll play these two games and then maybe one more game after that and he’ll be ready.

“It will be massive for us to get Simon Forsdick back and fit, and I don’t think it’s a secret that he’s my first choice wing-back.

“That’s no disrespect to Steve Jagielka, who’s done a sterling job while Fozzy (Forsdick) has been out, but he wants to play in midfield anyway.”

Forsdick is not the only Telford player pulling on a different shirt this weekend, with Smith also revealing that he has arranged for Asa Charlton to spend some time with Midland Alliance club Shifnal.

Charlton was suspended for the start of the season and then broke a toe dropping a beer barrel on his foot while at work.

He made his Shifnal debut in Tuesday’s 5-2 defeat at Biddulph Victoria and is set to feature again at home to Friar Lane & Epworth.

“All our injuries seem to be clearing up now and it’s going to give me a massive headache (to pick a team),” added Smith.
