Judgement Day was narrowly averted last Wednesday when the River Tern turned into a river of blood. Fortunately, the Environmental Agency were on the scene to reassure everybody that the river had actually turned red because about 600 litres of red ink was spilled into the river at Market Drayton, when the plastic container it was being transported in ruptured.
Ian Walshaw, the county council’s acting assistant divisional surveyor, said: “We have been informed this ink is water-based and should not pose a significant threat.”
