Forsdick ready to return for Bucks

Simon ForsdickAFC Telford’s injury woes are set to ease further with the imminent return of wing-back Simon Forsdick.A minor operation on Forsdick’s troublesome knee has kept him out for the start of the season and the Bucks have missed his energy down the left flank.

The former Hednesford man has returned to training but needs to play competitively before being considered for the first team.

“We haven’t sorted anything yet, but we’re looking at getting him a couple of games over the next week or so, maybe Saturday and Monday,” said Telford boss Rob Smith.

“He hasn’t kicked a ball properly since April, so he needs those minutes to regain match fitness.

“He will be a massive boost for us and he’s naturally left sided – we’ve missed that.”

Jimmy Turner, Indy Khela and Asa Charlton should also all come back into contention over the next three weeks.

The New Bucks Head club have made a positive start to their Blue Square North season with seven points from nine, but while goals have been aplenty, there remains room for improvement in defence.

Smith is hoping that time will prove the key for a back five that has sometimes looked unpolished and confused.

“The defence does need some work,” he admitted.

“We looked at it last night in training and had a long talk about it as well.

“We’ve played this system a long time so they should be used to it, it’s just a case of having a few new personnel who need time to click.

“The thing we are trying to impose on the players is individual responsibility, not leaving it for a team mate.”

Telford defend their unbeaten record at Redditch on Saturday and will hope for a first cleansheet against the division’s lowest goalscorers so far with two to their name.
