Gunnell ready for new season
Saturday 16th August 2008, 11:50AM BST.
Shropshire’s Adrian Gunnell begins his 14th season on snooker’s main tour tomorrow convinced he is operating at the peak of his powers.
The Telford cueman begins his campaign with qualifying for the Northern Ireland Trophy in Prestatyn.
His opponent will be revealed later today but will be one of Jamie Jones, Stephen Craigie and Ian Preece.
And Gunnell, who begins the season ranked provisionally 35 in the world, is in high spirits.
“I used to think I was at my peak at around 30 but I’m playing shots now I wasn’t able to back then,” said the 35-year-old.
He needs to win just one match in this competition to reach the final venue.
