Driver held over mast tragedy

Friday 15th August 2008, 11:50AM BST.

The driver of a car which was involved in an accident which killed a Shropshire teenager has been arrested by police.

The 47-year-old man from Bewdley was arrested yesterday on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. It follows the death of 19-year-old Sarah James of Redstone Drive, Highley.

West Mercia police today said the man was bailed for six weeks pending further inquiries. Miss James, a former pupil of Oldbury Wells School, in Bridgnorth, was struck on the head by the mast of a boat being towed by a black Range Rover on the B4194 on June 4.
