V Festival line-up ‘remains the same’
Wednesday 13th August 2008, 11:50AM BST.
Organisers of this year’s V Festival have denied rumours that headliners The Verve are pulling out.
Reports are circulating that guitarist Nick McCabe could walk out, just days before their performance at this weekend’s sell-out extravaganza at Weston Park.
But V Festival spokesman Matt Holmes, said today: “V Festival has not been informed The Verve will not be appearing at this year’s festival.
“Unless otherwise informed, organisers are expecting them to deliver a fantastic headline appearance as planned.”
The Verve was forced to draft in a replacement for the festival 10 years ago, when McCabe left the group just weeks before the event.
About 90,000 revellers are expected to descend on the grounds of the stately home on Saturday and Sunday.
Some of the biggest names in music are set to perform, including Lenny Kravitz, Muse, Stereophonics, Kaiser Chiefs and The Feeling.
Duffy, Alanis Morissette, Will Young, Kings of Leon and The Charlatans are also due to perform.
Police today also urged festival-goers to protect themselves and keep their belongings safe.
CCTV will be monitored throughout the event to provide security and police will be also be using automatic number plate recognition cameras to identify drivers with no insurance, no tax, bans, who are wanted by police or have a stolen vehicle.

last year it was a weekend of traffic chaos due to the selfish idiots who couldn’t follow simple instructions such as “festival traffic: use hard shoulder” because they knew better and thought it would be quicker to leave it til the last minute before leaving the outside lane, leaving three lanes of stationary traffic rather than just the hard shoulder. Thankfully managed to get the day off as last year it took 3.5 hours to get to Telford from work in Bimingham.
