Warning of prosecution

Tuesday 12th August 2008, 6:59PM BST.

Food business operators in Powys are being warned they face prosecution if they do not comply with improvement notices.

The warning, from Powys County Council’s Environmental Health Service, comes after Amjad Suhail Malik, of Jad’s Supermarket, Ystradgynlais, was prosecuted under the Food Hygiene (Wales) Regulations 2006 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, for failing to comply with four improvement notices.

Councillor Graham Brown, responsible for public protection, said: “Legal action will be pursued when operators continually fail to comply with the law.”
