Changes afoot at Molineux
Tuesday 12th August 2008, 11:49AM BST.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is expected to ring the changes for tonight’s Carling Cup match against Accrington Stanley.
Former Shrewsbury ace Dave Edwards, Michael Gray, Matt Jarvis, Sam Vokes and Chris Iwelumo are all in contention to start against the League Two outfit.
“It’s an opportunity for people to get a game but these are not untried young players we are talking about taking a chance on,” said McCarthy.
New signing Vokes will be looking to add to his debut goal against Plymouth at the weekend, the striker opening his account just 92 seconds after coming off the bench. Striker Iwelumo is also keen to force himself into the starting line-up.
“All I can do tonight is try and put my name in the gaffer’s head,” he said. “But the most important thing is that we win the game.”
Mdifielder Michael Kightly is doubtful with an ankle problem and David Jones has a slight back injury, so Darren Potter may be called into the side.
