Fields take cup with a flourish

Castlefields wrapped up part two of a seemingly certain bowls treble by winning the County Cup in style.
They marched to a 41 chalk victory over arch rivals St Georges on Saturday night on Wem BC No 2 with eight winners from the 12 games.
A man of the match display by Paul Williams to win 21-6 at No 3 set Fields up to add to their recent Alan Mayhew Trophy final triumph over Chester Road.
And not even two single figure winners in the middle could turn the tide as the Dragons were kept in check by Callum Wraight’s 21-5 card at No 7.
Keith Walton, captain of the triumphant Premier League champions elect said: “The best two teams in the league put on a good show for the crowd.”
* Shropshire’s under-18s booked their place in the final of the Drakes Pride junior championship with a 60 shot win over Staffordshire yesterday, the key being a fine 29 chalk win at Woodfield in Wolverhampton.
