Appeal to report drinking by young

People in Welshpool are being urged to help clamp down on anti-social behaviour and under-age drinking by reporting incidents to the police.
Police and the town council are now working together to tackle the problems.
Councillors have already called for new bylaws to stop the drinking of alcohol in public places.
Earlier this year, members heard that broken glass, empty beer bottles, cans and other rubbish had been found by worshippers attending St Mary’s Church.
Hotspots to be targeted under the bylaws have not been decided yet.
Robert Robinson, town council clerk, said: “The council has been looking into introducing an alcohol-free zone in parts of Welshpool, but, in order to do this, residents need to start reporting incidents of anti-social behaviour to the police.”
He said a survey asking people their thoughts on alcohol-free zones would be sent out in September.
“Given the need for an evidence base for designated public place orders we need to start working with the police and we are urging residents to report any anti-social behaviour problems to the police,” he said.
