Appeal on house burglars
Saturday 9th August 2008, 11:27AM BST.
A Shrewsbury man disturbed four burglars raiding his home in the early hours.
The victim was woken by a noise at about 5.15am yesterday and found the men in his property in Meole Crescent.
The intruders made off with cash up Meole Crescent to the junction with Upper Road, where they got into a dark hatchback and sped off.
Detective Constable Oliver Ewels, of Shrewsbury CID, appealed for anyone who in the area at the time who saw anything suspicious to come forward. The men were white and in their late teens to early 20s
“They were wearing dark clothing, including hooded tops, and made off in a dark hatchback car,” said DC Ewels. “It is possible the offenders were in the area in the days leading up to the burglary, so if anyone saw persons or vehicles in the area that they did not recognise, I would ask them to also get in touch.
“When the offenders made off, they drove off in the direction of Roman Road. Nobody was injured and no threats were made to the householder.”
