Talks on health centre proposal

Thursday 7th August 2008, 11:50AM BST.

Plans to build a medical centre on the site of a bulldozed former pub in Telford could soon get the go-ahead.

The new two-storey facility, which would include a child development centre, is proposed for land off Brunel Road in Malinslee.

The medical centre forms part a multi-million pound regeneration scheme of Malinslee.

The site was once home to the Shropshire Lad pub, which has since been demolished.

Officers at Telford & Wrekin Council are advising councillors to approve the application when they discuss it at a meeting of the borough plans board on Wednesday.

There will be 14 parking spaces next to the Primary Care Trust centre, including two for disabled people, with a further 44 spaces opposite the site in the local centre. No objections have been received.

Officers say in a report: “This is considered to be a positive addition to the Malinslee area.”
