Renewed search to find body
Tuesday 5th August 2008, 11:50AM BST.
Police are renewing a search today for the body of a Shropshire traveller who was murdered more than a year ago.
Father-of-two Danny Hathaway, 44, formerly of Church Stretton, was murdered last February after leaving his home on a new age traveller site in Corby, Northamptonshire.
Tony Holland, 23, of Broadlands, Desborough, was found guilty of Mr Hathaway’s murder at Ipswich Crown Court in May.
Although his body was never found, it was alleged his blood was found in a Transit van belonging to Holland and on Holland’s boots and a spade.
Detective Inspector Rankin McCarrick, from the Homicide and Major Crime Team, said: “Danny’s family want desperately to find out where his body is and what happened to him.”
Today, Northamptonshire Police will renew the search for Mr Hathaway’s body in Norfolk. Lincolnshire Police divers will help the search at a stretch of water in Saddlebow, Norfolk, for Mr Hathaway’s remains.
