Days before motor cars dominated roads
Tuesday 5th August 2008, 6:59PM BST.
Take a close look at this photo and you can see two cyclists side by side up the road and another one rather closer to us.
On the road in the foreground is the evidence of a passing horse.
The conclusion we can draw is that this view of Mill Street, Wem, was taken before the days when motor cars drove more or less everything else from the roads.
The picture is undated, but was published by F. Hiden of Wem, which may be a dating clue for somebody with access to old business directories.
Picture: Ray Farlow.

Er. Cars dominate our roads, because that’s what tarmac roads are built for.
Sheesh.
