Weathering the storm

Sunday 3rd August 2008, 12:00AM BST.

The weather dominated the news last week and with two big county shows on this week we’re keeping our fingers crossed for no more storms.

Andy Richardson talks to reporter Simon Hardy about the effects on Shropshire of “the most savage storm we’ve had for years, while Shropshire Magazine editor Neil Thomas looks forward to this week’s Burwarton Show and Minsterley Show.

The future of Randlay post office in Telford will be decided this week and the Star’s Lizzie Yates talks about the background to the decision.

Shrewsbury reporter Rhea Parsons talks about taking part in a new Shropshire Star initiative, “Out in the community”, which included a two-hour surgery for residents in a Bayston Hill pub to share their views and stories.

Finally, assistant editor Carl Jones looks forward to two special Shropshire Star supplements this week – an eight-page Shrewsbury Flower Show preview on Tuesday and Friday’s Big Kick-Off special, looking forward to the new football season.
