This time Marek will make his mark
Tuesday 29th July 2008, 11:49AM BST.
Slovakian Marek Hornak has been named as Eurologix Telford Tigers’ second import signing for 2008-9.
The 25-year-old forward joined Tigers last autumn from Swindon Wildcats and scored twice against his former team in the first game he played in Telford.
Coach Claude Dumas said: “We want to field a very exciting team this season, with quick players. The rules are more flexible and speed is an asset.
“Marek has had some very good years in the past.
“Last year for him was difficult, starting in one team and having to re-adjust when he joined us. He showed in the last month or so what he is capable of, and I believe this season he will recover the form he showed before.
“He has a lot to offer for the Tigers, lots of goals to score.
“He has lightning speed and we intend to use that more efficiently this time.”
Hornak has settled happily into life in Telford with his girlfriend and works at Wolverhampton University’s campus in the town.
He said: “We are really enjoying living here, so all has worked out well.
“I am definitely glad to be back. This year I get the chance to start the season with Telford and, because I can see where the team is heading, I am really glad to be part of it from the beginning this time.
“I plan to score goals and get the team to the play-offs. I just want to contribute as many goals as I can because that is my part of the team.
“So far, every signing is a very good player, and I think if we put it all together we can be a very good team.
“I think we will be able to compete with teams like Milton Keynes and Sheffield, which would be very good.
“It is definitely an exciting season to be part of.”
