Neil Radnor with his Radnor Hill champion Ram at the Bishop’s Castle showScorching weather was just one of the highlights of this year’s Bishop’s Castle Agricultural Show which saw visitors turn up in their droves.

The crowds were wowed by the animals, stalls, farming demonstrations and performances in the ring on Saturday.

Modern and traditional farming methods were showcased and organisers received hundreds of entries to the sheep, poultry, horse and dog shows in the run-up to the agricultural extravaganza.

The horse competition had a class for retrained racehorse and was also used as a Veteran Horse Society qualifier for Olympia, one of the UK’s major equine events.

The main ring saw the Welsh motorcycle stunt troupe, Total Trials, wow the crowds with their daring displays and the United Pack Hunt brought their horses and hounds to the show.

Show chairman David Marpole said after last year’s event, which was rained off, visitor numbers were up on previous years and everyone enjoyed the show.

He said: “The quality of the entries were excellent this year and many of the classes saw more entries than previous years.”
