A 34-year-old man was taken to hospital on a spinal board after a two-car crash in Telford.

The driver was injured when the car he was driving was in collision with a second vehicle in Wellington Road, Admaston, shortly after 10pm yesterday.

Two ambulances and an incident support officer were sent to the crash scene.

They treated the injured man and the driver and passengers of the second vehicle.

The people in the second car escaped injury.

Catherine Summers, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman, said: “On arrival at the scene crews found two cars which had been involved in a collision.

“One car had front end damage and the second car had side damage.

“The driver of one car, a 34-year-old man, suffered an injury to his left side and neck pain.”

She added: “Crews immobilised the man using a neck collar and spinal board before transferring him by land ambulance to Princess Royal Hospital in Telford for further assessment and treatment.

“The driver and two passengers from the second car, all believed to be in their 20s, were not injured in the crash.”

Two pumps and the rescue tender from Wellington, along with the incident commander from Shrewsbury, were also sent to the scene.

A spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said nobody was trapped but firefighters made the vehicles safe.
